UK Household Numbers Set To Increase
The number of households in the UK is set to rise significantly in the next 20 years. This will have important implications for the long term prospects for the UK Housing Market. The rise in the number of households is forecast to rise for 2 main reasons.
Growing population, especially in South England. Partly due to immigration and partly due to a birth rate above long term average in many western economies

2. INcreasing Number of Households.
Recently a report suggested there will be a marked rise in the number of single occupancy households. This will occur because
- rising numbers of single people (who remain unmarried or get divorced)
- Rising number of old single people living alone.
If both these factors occur and the UK fails to build sufficient numbers of new houses. It will mean prices continue to be high and out of the reach for many young people

Now here’s a thought. The media have been telling us for ages that mass immigration is the key driver behind increasing populations. What would happen if the pound depreciates and unemployment increase? Well, the pound is depreciating and no ones job is that safe at the moment as we approach the inevitable recession. The migrant workers move on, to where their work earns the most in their home currency. It is a simple result of supply and demand applied to the labour economy, isn’t it?
